Ford City is a borough in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States, located about 40 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. It was founded in 1887 as a company town by the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company (now known as PPG Industries) and later became a hub for coal mining. The town was named after John Baptiste Ford, who was a major investor in the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company.
